I thought McClatchy was a reliable publication, but I want to be careful not to think different based on one article or journalist.(or 2) Another reportedly reputable source (FiveThirtyEight)may have more perspective or less*.

Santorum is not questioning the President's faith,

just his world view, which is a "different stripe " of Christianity*.

Despite the cultural cracks I am making, Santorum would be a good addition to the table of discussion. It is a dialogue we should be having, to clear the air of the boogeymen, and kraft our course.
